- Bob grew up with his parents Virginia Pompeani (mother) and Pat Pompeani (father), and his brother Bruce Pompeani. The Pompeani family was saddened by the passing away of Pat in July 2018. Pat was not only a mentor and friend to his children Bruce and Bob, but also an exceptional father figure. Earlier, Bob’s mother Virginia’s had fought a courageous seven-year battle with cancer, before she passed away.

- Bob has won many awards for his work, including the PA. Press Award Steeler Pre-Season Football, which he has won eight times. He has also won the Golden Quill Award four times for his sports reporting and an Emmy for “Play by Play,” which he has done for the Steelers for close to two decades.
- He has also received other awards such as the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy’s Professional Image Award and Best Dressed TV Personality.

My name is Jerry Martin. I am a member at the Shannopin Country Club. I have a story about one of our members, Hub Garver, He is 87 and just last week made his 17th hole-in-one! It was the third this year. He started to shoot his age at 69 and at 85 just switched to the yellow tees. He routinely shoots his age and I estimate that over the years he has shot his age over 400 times!
I have Surveyed several other clubs and no one can recollect any of their members having that many holes-in-one. This seems like a great human interest story and one that would promote golf. Would be great to see this story be told.
