- Born in the UK on 11th March 1975, Bianca Westwood has five brothers! Her whole family, including her dad & brother, are truly football crazy. Her dad passed away due to MS (Multiple Sclerosis), and she describes him as a wonderful man whose loss was tragic!
- Ever since she was six years old, Bianca has been a dedicated fan of West Ham Football Club. She was so dedicated that in 1986, at just 11 years old, she wrote Valentine’s card for the player Frank McAvennie & ran onto the pitch mid-game to give it to him.
- Her obsession as a child has carried onto her future as she now writes a regular column on the “West Ham Till I Die” website all about the club and the many games she attends.
Education and Career Details :
- Bianca went to Epping Forest College from 1990 to 1992 and achieved A-levels in English Literature, French, and Communication – Media Studies.
- Bianca then went straight to the University of Westminster to study Modern Languages involving English Literature and French from 1992 to 1996.
- After graduating with Upper Second Class Honours, she started working in investment banking for nearly two years as she had no idea what her career would be.
- After those two years, a friend of Bianca’s managed to get her a job at SSKY as a runner, and she ended up working her way up the business focusing on sports broadcasting, even though there was a lack of other women within that field.
- Eventually, she made it to the position of Football Commentator for Soccer Saturday in 2008 and was the first female commentator to do so.
- Initially she received a lot of negativity from the fans, but after a few years, she started to become a valued commentator and has now become someone who represents the positive power of women, especially in sport.
Professional Timeline, Salary and Net Worth :
- After her graduation, Bianca’s career started in investment banking after she took a job at Nat West Stockbrokers as a part of the Trade Support team. She worked there for a year between 1997 and 1998.
- Later, she ended up becoming a Settlement Clerk for J.P. Morgan. Her time in this position only lasted only a few months until she moved to Morgan Stanley as part of the UK & European Equity Trade Support team.
- Bianca stayed at Morgan Stanley for almost two years until early 2000 when a friend who worked at SKY managed to get her a job as a runner as she was not enjoying her career within investment banking.
- From that point she worked her way up the ladder, working as an Editorial Assistant, Floor Manager, Sports Reporter, and eventually a football commentator for Soccer Saturday, where she stayed from 2008 until 2023. After 22 years working for SKY, she finally left the network in June 2023. She acknowledged the significant role she played in shaping the channel’s success over the years. Westwood has now teamed up with Jeff Stelling at talkSPORT, continuing their collaboration from their years together at Sky Sports.

- Bianca modelled as a child and always wanted to do more of it in her teens, but she was never tall enough to carry on.
- In 2014, Jeff Stelling was accused of belittling Bianca by laughing at her as she tried to report on a game while in torrential rain, but she was not offended as she believed he would have had the same reaction with any of the other reporters.

What has happened to her? Now that Jeff Stelling has left the Saturday Sky Sports News, it is a shadow of it’s former self. His rapport and teasing with Bianca was a constant delight – I miss and love Bianca a lot!
