Andrea Isom, a tall woman with long, wavy dark hair and ambitious eyes, is an award-winning journalist who worked for ABC’s WXYZ Detroit. She left the station in July 2011.
Personal Life : Parents, Family and Education
- Although Isom was born in Cleveland, Ohio, she considers Detroit to be her adoptive home.
- She is currently married to her husband, Joe Harris, a former photographer and editor. He and Isom met at work through Fox 2, and married each other before Isom left for Hollywood.
- When that time came, Harris followed her and became an editor for Crime Watch Daily while she reported.
- They both now work and live in Detroit together, along with their black lab Abby.

- Isom first began her career by staying in Ohio, where she worked at a local TV station in Dayton.
- From there, she moved on to Elmira, New York, then to Kansas City, Missouri, before making it into the big leagues with WJBK Fox 2 Detroit.
Detroit : Stint with Fox 2
- Isom joined Fox 2 in April 2004, and spent several years with the station.
- While working there, she became a household name, and was easily the most recognized street reporter in the city.
- This popularity mostly came from her success with Fox 2’s nightly newscast On The Edge. She used the show to cover breaking news and do on-site investigative reporting.
Hollywood & Back to Detroit :
Heading to Hollywood :
- In January of 2015, Isom departed from the station, citing the need to chase other opportunities as her reason.
- In September 2015, those opportunities became apparent as Isom resurfaced on the national news show Crime Watch Daily. She’d been recruited because of her edgy attitude, smart reporting, and quick wit.
- The show allowed her to tackle longer stories at her own pace, often taking days to complete a segment instead of just a few hours.
- Her newfound success also led her to appear as a commentator on other news popular news segments, such as Nancy Grace.
Back to Detroit :
- After working with Crime Watch Daily for a few years, however, Isom began to miss her adoptive home. She moved back to report for WXYZ Detroit in 2017 and started work in their Investigative Unit. After four years with WXYZ, Andrea left the station in mid-2021.
