Amelia Reynolds was born in 1973 in Fressingfield, Suffolk, to parents Sarah Bellairs Reynolds (mother) and Norman D. Reynolds (father). She also has a brother.
Growing up in Fressingfield, Amelia attended the Fressingfield CofE Primary School, followed by Stradbroke High School in Stradbroke and the Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham.
Following her graduation from high school, Amelia attended the University of Exeter in Exeter, England. She graduated with a degree in English and drama.

In 2001, Reynolds met the man who would become her husband, David Whiteley, through her work with the BBC. He was (and still is) a documentary filmmaker and fellow BBC presenter They started dating in 2006.
David proposed to Amelia on May 4th, 2007, on the occasion of his 30th birthday. Amelia had arranged a surprise booking at the Crown Hotel in Southwold, Suffolk, to celebrate his birthday, and David had the ring with him.
The couple married on August 16th, 2008, in the South Norfolk village of Trowse. Their honeymoon was spent in Bali.

The couple now have two daughters – Annabel Sarah May Whiteley (born on April 29, 2010) and Cleo Rose Cicely Whiteley (born on February 7, 2013).

After graduating from the University of Exeter, Reynolds was torn between pursuing a career in acting or a career as a broadcast journalist.
She auditioned for the prestigious Bristol Old Vic theater. When that didn’t work out, she delved completely into the world of broadcast journalism.
Her first job, starting in 1994, was for WRENmedia, an independent production company, compiling reports for Radio Four and BBC World Service. Working on those reports gave her the opportunity to travel to Africa and Asia.

In 1997, Reynolds joined the ranks of Cambridge Red TV, a network that has since ceased broadcasting. She was a presenter on Red TV’s Red Report series.
Afterwards, she did a short stint on Local Life Television, a cable channel in Norwich. But in 2000, she finally found a permanent home when she was hired by the BBC. She was hired as a member of the research team for Look East.
Before long she had moved from being a researcher to being a presenter on the show. While performing the role of researcher, she reported on the Planespotting in Greece which was made into a TV movie in 2005.

In addition to being a presenter on Look East, Reynolds is also at the helm of Sunday Politics East, a program airing on BBC East.

Amelia’s husband, David Whiteley, is a huge Star Wars fan and has been part of the production of a Star Wars documentary, The Galaxy Britain Built.
Whiteley is a keen surfer, but Reynolds severely dislikes it. They compromise by going skiing together, which is something she loves.
She and her husband are very active people. They both ran in the 2009 London Marathon.
