Alison Teal was born on May 8, 1985, in a small cabin log in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
Her father is David Blehert, a photographer who worked for National Geographic Magazine. Her mother is Deborah Koehn, an international yoga teacher.
Alison grew up in her family’s home base in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, but she frequently accompanied her parents on their various international trips.

She was mostly home-schooled as the family traveled the globe but also attended the Hawaii Preparatory Academy (HPA) in Kamuela, and the Aspen High School in Aspen, Colorado.
Alison then attended the University of Southern California (USC) and the University of California Berkeley. She graduated summa-cum-laude with a double major in film production and theater.
Currently, Kailua-Kona is Alison’s home base while she continues to travel the world.
