Alison Morris is a native of New York and a weekdays anchor at NBC news. Earlier, she was a news presenter/business reporter for Fox 5 (WNYW-TV New York) where she anchored the 5pm, 10pm, and 11pm news.
On January 26, 2020, while reporting on the tragic death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant & his daughter Gianna Bryant, Alison stuttered on-air, saying a word sounding like ‘Los Angeles n***ers.’ She apologized on Twitter (now called X), saying that she combined the names of the New York Knicks and the Lakers to say “Nakers” & that she would “NEVER use a racist term”. However, the Twitter & online world reacted very strongly to this, and many petitions were started to ‘get her fired’.

- Alison had done her internship in 1999 with CBS Sports.
- After completing graduation, in 2002, she started her professional journey in Paris, France! She was a part of CNBC Europe where she was employed as a stock market reporter / producer. There, she wrote stories for the Wall Street Journal in Europe and reported on the French Stock Exchange. Her European professional journey lasted for two years.
- Returning back to the US, in 2005, she joined KDKA TV in Pittsburgh as a General Assignment Reporter till 2010 for around 5 years. While working for KDKA, she had covered several award-winning news stories such as The Sago Mine Tragedy & The G-20 Summit. Moreover, she also reported on two Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Victories & the Stanley Cup Finals.
- Thereafter, in 2010, she got associated with Fox CT in Hartford and explored the role of an anchor / consumer reporter.
- While at Hartford, during the span, she got nominated for two Emmy awards for covering the Sandy Hook Tragedy and The World Series.

She needs to lose her job. It’s not acceptable! That word doesn’t just roll off your tongue unless your tongue and mouth are you used to saying it!!! I’m so upset and tired of it!!! NBC do the right thing and fire her immediately!
She needs to be terminated from her job immediately. If we as Afro-Americans had said something racist we would have been terminated immediately. I guess white people can say things that they want to say and not be held accountable for their actions. That comment has really made me realize that this world still puts white people on a high rise. So sad.

In my humble opinion, that was a mistake. For her to purposely utter a racial epithet doesn’t make sense. Folks, let’s not get it all in a bunch.
It was an honest misspoke. A New Yorker and probably a Knick fan who merged lakers and knicks in her mindset. I listened to video many times and this is my honest appraisal.
NBC News NOW is where she works. Nakers, please!

I ran the clip over and over 10 times and I hear ‘Nakers’. Nobody’s perfect. I wish people weren’t so quick to accuse. Sad.
