Abby Martin is an American journalist and presenter on the RT America network. She was the former host of the popular “Breaking the Set” & “Empire Files” programs & worked from RT’s Washington, D.C. Bureau.

- She grew up in Pleasanton, California, and until 2002 attended the Amador Valley High School.
- Family : Both her parents were property managers. She has one brother, Robbie Martin, who was the director of ÒA Very Heavy AgendaÓ documentary.
- For her education, she attended the San Diego State University. She received an undergraduate degree in Political Science and minored in Spanish.

- In 2012, Abby began hosting her own show on RT America. It was called “Breaking the Set”. RT America is a channel under the Russia Today Network, headquartered in Moscow.

- In 2013, she was the co-director of 99% The Occupy Wall Street, a collaborative film. She was also a part of the project Censored the Movie.
- Besides, being a news host, she is also an artist, activist and has taken part in several other projects on the Media Roots website.

- In her early days, Abby worked as an investigative journalist for a San Diego-based online news site. Later, she stopped working with them when she moved back to North California.

- She also worked on radio & did some podcasts; Media Roots Radio (2010- present) and Project Censored, KPFA (94.1 FM).
- She wrote a book in 2011 titled “Censored 2012: The Top 25 Censored Stories of 2010–11.”
- In 2019, she released her first feature-length documentary, Gaza Fights For Freedom, working alongside Mike Prysner.
- Films and video have always been Abby’s preferred medium because that medium has driven her activism throughout her life.

- Abby gave painting a try after high school. She would portray politics, nature, and psychedelia in her paintings.
- A big fan of photography and collage making, she has also displayed some of her artworks.
- Her brother Robbie has also supported her with Media Roots since its beginning, although he is not a co-founder. Robbie is a musician and has performed many times on “The Empire Files” show, where his sister was the presenter.
