Profile :
Shalini Chandran is a well-known face in the world of television. She came to notice through her role of Maithili in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki on Star Plus channel. Her role made her quite popular among the directors and audience alike.
Her parents are originally from Tamil Nadu and Kerala border, but she was born in Jamshedpur which made her used to converse in Hindi. Like every other teen, the world of glitz and glamour fascinated her, but she went on to do her graduation in tourism.
After an Air-hostess exam rejected her for not knowing swimming, she was disheartened. In her own words, her parents have always been her support system.
Personal Life :
Her attachment to television can also be due to the bitter experience that she had with Bollywood before. She had shot a movie Kya Yahi Sach Hai produced and directed by Pushpa Singh and Y P Singh respectively. Apparently, Shalini had put in a lot of hard work but sadly, it didn’t see the light of day or in this situation, a darkness of theatres.
She moved on but later in the year 2011, she got to know about its release on 30th December 2011 which shocked her. According to her, she read about its release in newspapers and other outside sources. The movie makers apparently didn’t care to inform her. She had faced a similar situation in Badmaash Company and Always Kabhi Kabhi where her roles came under the attack of a film editor.
No wonder she appears to be happier in her own space on television where she not only gets more screen time but also get appreciation for her performance.
Career and Professional Life :
After graduation, she moved on to her dream and made entry into the world of acting. She joined Barry John’s classes to work on her acting skills and got her first breakthrough Ekta Kapoor’s serial Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki as Maithili. This role worked in her favor and she grabbed roles in various projects like below :
- Kabhii Kabhii Pyar
- Hamari Betiyon Ka Vivah
- Rishton Se Badi Pratha
- Crime Patrol.
Her impressive career on television even led to work in movies such as Badmaash Company, Shaandar, etc. Although having worked in such high-profile movies she doesn’t aspire for them much. For her television has also gotten bigger with time. They have a fair share of experiments going on.
