- From April to December 2008, she interned at CBS News and, more specifically, at CBS Evening News with Katie Couric in Manhattan, New York.
- In summer of 2009, Kelly interned at MSNBC for the NBC executives.
- Her first job out of college started in March 2011 at WBOY-TV in Clarksburg, West Virginia. There, she was a reporter and weekend anchor. She stayed there for a year and a half until August 2012.
- In August 2012, Kelly moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, to become a reporter for Fox19 WXIX. She stayed there for a little over two years, leaving in September 2014.
- Kelly’s next move was to Nashville in October 2014, in order to work as a reporter and morning anchor for WZTV (Fox 17).
- At the end of 2017, she moved from Fox 17 to WESH 2 News.
- In June 2019, she returned to Cincinnati to take Lisa Cooney’s chair at WLWT, on the weekday News 5 Today show alongside Colin Mayfield and meteorologist Randi Rico.

- Since November 2011, Kelly has been a TRULeaders Member of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati in Ohio.
- Kelly is a huge Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoys watching football. She considers herself a lifelong Pirates fan.
- She also loves traveling and baking.
- Once, Rippin got to join three-time Grammy nominee Alan Shacklock and Joe Masters in the studio for her own recording session at SAE Institute’s Nashville Campus. There she performed Taylor Swift’s hit “Shake It Off.”
- While working for WZTV at the Nashville Boat Show in Tennessee, she got the opportunity to meet Twiggy, a domesticated squirrel who knew how to waterski! Unfortunately, the squirrel was scared and peed on her.
